After 20 years of deck maintenance and repairs, the homeowners were ready for an easier, maintenance-free outdoor living space. The bones of the layout were already beautiful, and the homeowner was very happy with the existing plan.

From Deck Demo to Deck Diamond

As we began peeling back the existing deck, we discovered a few safety hazards. This happens in nearly any home renovation project – interior or exterior. Building codes change, materials degrade, and best practices evolve. Our team of experts always prioritizes safety, so we started there.

The supports for the overhanging rough were improper and lacking. That’s not a detail we wanted to skimp – especially because it can increase the value of the project by extending the seasons of enjoyment outdoors.

We took this opportunity to add a few fun design elements, including:

• a splash of blue to add extra pop to the supports
• custom planters for beautiful landscaping and container gardens
• benching spanning between planters for added seating

The deck itself was finished with Azek coastline decking with hickory accents and Timbertech posts.
