The holidays are here! Businesses and communities are celebrating their holidays a little differently this year, but with no less spirit than before. While some events have changed or been postponed, many events are still happening in the Hudson Valley. If you’re looking for something special to do this year for the holidays in Hudson Valley, we’ve got some fun suggestions for you!

1. Sinterklaas! Send-Off Celebration in Kingston

Kingston’s Sinterklaas celebration is an intercultural event that brings together people from Kingston with a showcase from artists and performers in the community. After a day of open houses and workshops, The Children’s Maritime Parade will send of Sinterklaas and his white horse on a tugboat. 

The Sinterklaas Kingston celebration is currently set for November 28, 2020. Check the Sinterklaas Kingston website for more updates as they become available.  

2. Thayer Hotel Brunch With Santa

Thayer Hotel in West Point, NY is celebrating brunch with Santa this holiday season on December 6, 13 and 20. Reservations are required for this delicious meal with the most famous holiday elf there is! Call in advance to get your spot reserved today. This activity is aimed at young audiences up to 12 years old. Children under 5 eat free with the purchase of an adult brunch.  

3. Twilight Tours Boscobel House and Gardens

Boscobel House and Gardens in Garrison, NY represents the remains of a historic home built by Loyalists in the early part of the 19th century. Today, you can see the Boscobel House and Gardens from the outside, with its beautiful period decorations and gorgeous live string music. Take a walk through the apple orchard, rose garden and maple lane, where magnificent holiday lights will be put on display. Twilight Tours will happen on November 29, 30, December 6, 7 and 8 this year.

4. The Farmer’s Museum Holiday Lantern Tours

Farmer’s Museum in Cooperstown, NY is providing all outdoor hour-long walking tours of the museum grounds where visitors can learn about historic celebrations of the holidays in the Hudson valley. Learn holiday facts and fun trivia from an expert, and get your exercise in! Tours are open for groups no larger than 8 people, so get your reservations in early to secure your spot. Tours are scheduled on various days throughout December.

5. Queens County Farm Museum

Queens County Farm Museum in Floral Park dates back to the late 1600’s. On the farm, you’ll see historic farm buildings and tools, and learn about life in a time when New York was just open space and a scattering of communities. Join them for their holiday open house on December 26, 27 and 28. The event is free!
